Learning Outside the Classroom

Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC)...

...is the use of places other than the classroom for teaching and learning opportunities. It is about getting children and young people out and about, providing them with challenging, exciting and different experiences to enhance their learning.

Bespoke Outdoor Learning Programme

As well as taking our curriculum into the outdoors to learn, part of our curriculum offer is to make use of our extensive grounds, woodland and pond through our Outdoor Learning Programme. From Reception to Year 6, the children learn to co-operate and manage risk through a range of fun but challenging skill based activities, including:

 - building shelters
 - making campfires
 - whittling wood
 - tying knots
 - reading maps and compasses
 - problem-solving challenges

The holistic nature of our learning aims to provide a wide range of rich experiences and opportunities to support the children's  mental and physical wellbeing whilst feeding their natural curiosity, and awe and wonder, of the world around them.
